Interview conducted by Penelope Quillfeather, lead columnist for the Ravenwick Gazette—the only newspaper serving a tiny town tucked deep in the wilds of Wyoming (not a real paper, but doesn’t it sound like the kind of place where stories linger in the wind?).
Before we dive in, picture this: two steaming mugs of tea, a cozy corner filled with books, and an afternoon chat with none other than Robin T. Popp. I had the pleasure of asking her about her love of paranormal romance, her two newest book series, and why she can’t resist adding a little mystery and magic to everything she writes. And—hmmm—sources suggest Robin may also be secretly working on a brand-new cozy mystery series set in a fog-draped town full of secrets. Intriguing, right?

Penelope Quillfeather: Robin, thank you for joining me today! For readers who may not know you yet, how would you describe your writing?
Robin T. Popp: Thank you, Penelope! My stories are all about blending mystery, magic, and heart-pounding romance. I love creating worlds where the paranormal feels just a heartbeat away from reality—whether that means haunted houses, cursed towns, or futuristic space stations. My goal is to sweep readers into an adventure that’s both thrilling and deeply emotional.
Penelope: What do you think makes your books stand out in the world of paranormal romance and romantic suspense?
Robin: For me, it’s always about the characters. I want them to feel like real people—flawed, courageous, vulnerable—even when they’re facing ghosts, witches, or galactic conspiracies. I balance the supernatural with very human emotions so that readers can root for the characters as they struggle with love, loss, danger, and second chances.
Penelope: Many of your readers say your stories feel like experiences rather than just books. What’s your secret?
Robin: (laughs) I think it comes down to immersion. My settings—whether it’s a haunted Texas B&B or a black-market city hidden beneath a dead planet—are as alive as the characters. I like to paint the worlds so vividly that readers feel like they’re walking through them, breathing the same air as my heroes and heroines.
Penelope: Let’s talk about your newest series. First up: Outer Fringe. What can readers expect?
Robin: Outer Fringe is my science fiction romance series, and it’s very special to me because I created the universe with my long-time close friend and fellow author, Georgia Tribell. We worked together to design the Outer Fringe setting, and while each of us writes our own stand-alone adventures, our stories share overlapping details and even recurring support characters. That makes the universe feel truly interconnected.
As for the stories themselves, they’re filled with high-stakes adventure on the edge of known space. Readers will meet smugglers, explorers, outlaws, and unlikely heroes who cross paths in lawless star systems. And of course, romance burns at the heart of every book. It’s part Star Wars, part Firefly, with plenty of conspiracies, daring escapes, and romance that refuses to stay in the background.

Penelope: That sounds amazing! And then there’s Texas After Dark, which is a very different series. Tell us about that one.
Robin: Texas After Dark lets me play in the paranormal mystery sandbox. It’s set in the fictional town of Las Palomas, a haunted border town in South Texas. Each book explores a different ghost legend—like El Muerto, La Llorona, or the vanishing hitchhiker—woven into a romantic suspense. The stories have a gothic, eerie atmosphere, but at the same time, they’re about love, redemption, and uncovering long-buried secrets.
Penelope: You’re clearly blending genres. Mystery, romance, paranormal, sci-fi… what keeps you coming back to that mix?
Robin: I can’t resist the “what if” question. What if love blossomed in the middle of a haunting? What if two enemies had to team up to steal alien technology? What if your small-town neighbor carried a supernatural curse? For me, mystery and romance are natural partners. Add in a touch of the paranormal or sci-fi, and suddenly you’ve got endless possibilities.

Penelope: You’ve been praised for your ability to balance fast-paced plots with genuine romance. Do you ever find that difficult?
Robin: Oh, absolutely! Pacing is everything. I love action—chases, fights, escapes—but if I don’t slow down for the quiet, emotional moments, the romance won’t feel real. I think the trick is weaving those intimate beats into the middle of chaos, because let’s be honest—love rarely waits for the perfect moment.
Penelope: Where can readers connect with you and follow along on your adventures?
Robin: I love connecting with readers! They can find me on my website (where I share news and updates), on social media (for sneak peeks and giveaways), and at events like book signings or conventions. Even if you can’t come in person, there are always ways to join the fun online.

Penelope: Final question—why should someone pick up a Robin T. Popp novel today?
Robin: Because if you’re craving stories with heart, heat, and a little bit of the otherworldly, my books deliver that escape. You’ll find heroes worth cheering for, heroines who surprise you, romance that feels real, and mysteries that keep you turning pages. Whether you want to dive into Outer Fringe for interstellar adventures or Texas After Dark for ghostly mysteries, you’ll walk away entertained—and maybe a little enchanted.
