When people find out I write paranormal romance, their first question is usually, “Do you believe in ghosts?”

The truth? I’m not entirely sure. Having spent most of my life in Rosenberg, Texas—just outside of Houston—I’ve heard more than my share of spooky tales. And honestly, Mexican folklore has some of the best ghost stories. They’re full of passion, curses, and consequences, which makes them perfect fodder for someone like me who loves weaving mystery, danger, and romance together.

🪦 Confession #1 – Cemeteries Don’t Scare Me (Much)

Some people find cemeteries creepy. I find them fascinating. Each headstone is a story waiting to be told, and I can’t help wondering what secrets linger there. The silence is heavy, but it feels more like history than horror. Still, if something cold brushed past me on one of my walks? Let’s just say my brave “author investigating for research” mask might slip real quick.

👻 Confession #2 – If I Met a Real Ghost…

I honestly don’t know what I’d do. My reaction would probably land somewhere between looking around for the camera crew of Pranked and nervously trying to engage the spirit in a game of 20 Questions. (“So, uh… how long have you been haunting this place? Do you prefer moaning in hallways or rattling chains?”) My curiosity would be battling with my survival instinct the whole time.

📖 Confession #3 – Folklore is My Goldmine

From La Llorona to El Cucuy, Mexican folklore is bursting with eerie figures, tragic backstories, and bone-chilling warnings. These tales linger because they’re about more than scares—they’re about choices, mistakes, and the price people pay. That’s why I love pulling those flavors into my Texas After Dark series. A ghost is only as haunting as the heartbreak or betrayal that binds them to this world.

❤️ Confession #4 – I Can’t Help Adding Romance

Even when the fog is thick and the Rio Maldito whispers at midnight, my characters still find love. Maybe it’s stubbornness, maybe it’s human nature, but romance always sneaks in. And honestly? That makes the story even better. If two people can fall in love while dodging curses and communing with the dead, then surely there’s hope for the rest of us.

✨ Wrap-Up

So, do I believe in ghosts? I’m still undecided. But whether they’re real or not, they sure make for good stories. And until one floats up to me with chain-rattling proof, I’ll keep haunting my own imagination—and inviting readers to step into the shadows with me.

Because in my world, love doesn’t just conquer all. Sometimes it even conquers the grave.
